Next to the IXION project, Knight Area is my main 'employer' in the music and sound business. I have been working with them since their first show in November 2004. I was in the same band for years with their keyboard player and composer Gerben Klazinga. After recording the first album 'The Sun also Rises' they formed a band, and Gerben asked me whether I was interested in taking up the FOH position. I was of course! And I still am!

A lot of things have changed since that first gig. They went from a 7 piece band to a 5 piece band. And as a team we went al over Europe and the World: France, Belgium, Germany, America and Canada. Playing small gigs and larger festivals.

Yes, I am a Knight Area Crew member, and no, I don't do autographs

I owe these guys a lot, for gigging with them gave me the opportunity to learn and grow as an engineer. And for having confidence in me, and respecting me. In the same way as I respect them and have confidence in them. Getting a good live sound is not just the work of the sound guy, it is a joined effort! Getting a good show on stage is a constant process of improving things, both in the arrangements, the technical side of things (trying different microphones, different sounds and settings). So there is a constant dialogue and we evaluate the shows and try to improve both on stage and at the FOH island. For it is not just sound that makes a show, the lights are equally important.

In the end, this where you do it all for: to make sure that these guys play as well as they can, and are having fun. And to make sure the audience can participate in that fun!

The fun side is: it get you to all these beautiful cities and great progressive rock festivals!
